Never give horses free access to large amounts of starch rich feed.
This will prevent inflammation of the laminae in the hoof associated with intense stiffness and pain in the hooves. Intensive fed horses should never receive the usual amount of feed on a rest day, this prevents Astoria associated with pain and stiffness in the cross muscles and loin, as a consequence horses struggles to walk.
Horses should always be warmed up at a slow pace before starting with intense activities. It prevents that any possible excess glycogen in the muscles can be eliminated in the presence of oxygen. Tau horse ration is low in starch and contains minimum maize to prevent these metabolic disorders.
